When was the last time you cried? We mourn because things aren’t the way they are supposed to be. Sin and suffering fills our world. Yet, the people of God have hope. God blesses us when we weep by comforting us in our affliction.

The world has its own list of desirable characteristics—blessed are the strong, rich, beautiful, popular, powerful, & smart. Jesus consistently preached contrary to this. The Kingdom of Heaven will be full of the last people you would expect to be there. Recognizing our own need of God is one of essential requirements for being a citizen of heaven.

What if the reason we feel so defeated, is because we are fighting the wrong battle? Paul closes Ephesians by pulling the curtain back on the spiritual warfare happening all around us. We need God’s characteristics if we are going to stand firm and advance the Kingdom of Heaven.
