Just because someone believes the gospel, doesn’t mean they always look like Jesus. We need the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit to clothe us like Christ. Sanctification is a daily process of learning to put off the old and put on the new. Renewal involves removing sin and replacing it with righteousness.

Dozens of books have been written about how to grow the church. Yet fundamentally we aren’t the ones who grow the church, God is. Our overemphasis on skills and strategies can actually get us off track from our mission. When we take up Jesus’ mission and follow his method for making disciples, we will see spiritual depth in our church and revival in our city.

Too often the church reflects the same exact division as the culture. We have grown so accustomed with fights that we wonder if there is another way. God is building one church. If we want to live according to our calling we must open ourselves up to the Holy Spirit and become people of peace.
